Steps advance annually on the employee's anniversary date (Article 23 ¶Q: 'an Employee will reach the next pay step by reaching their anniversary date'; ¶B.3 confirms one step per anniversary and bars regression or freezing). New hires may be placed above Step 1 at a 'Higher Rate Step' for prior experience (¶B). AMFA's ratification release cites a $65.85 top of scale; the base table tops at $62.23 (10/17/27) — the difference is premiums/adders, published separately, never blended into base.

Rows are Longevity — 'time spent working in a Position covered by this Agreement' (Art 2 ¶11) in one-year increments (Art 16.A.3). Column calendar fixed by two independent sources: the printed rule that adjustments take effect 'the first day of November (First month after the DOS)' (Art 16.A.1.i) and Allegiant's announcement that the first contract took effect on ratification, 2021-10-26. DOS/DOS+1 are the original 2021 scale; DOS+1.5 onward are the 2023 extension rates. Half-step columns are fully verified but their effective dates are not printed; the annual November columns are shown — between Novembers the operative rate may briefly be the half-step (≈0.5% higher).

Steps 1-9 escalate on DOS-anniversary columns (DOS = May 13, 2023; the agreement itself writes the convention as 'DOS+6 months'). Step 10 (top step — current printed top: $38.51 since Nov 2025, $39.67 from Nov 2026) is printed with its own November columns, month and year only: $35.24 at DOS, $36.30 Nov 2023, $37.39 Nov 2024, $38.51 Nov 2025, $39.67 Nov 2026. The agreement prints no day for those columns, so this page discloses that schedule rather than dating it as tables. Step progression: twelve months of service in each step within a classification (Article 4.2, p.15) — Step 1 = entry, Step 9 = 8 years in classification.

  • Alaska–Hawaiian joint contract process still at the pre-negotiation stage

    negotiations

AMFA reported that the parties met virtually on 2026-08-07, following a 2026-07-29 face-to-face meeting in Seattle, on a Merger Transition Protocol (MTP) Agreement, and that the company’s response “reverted to its prior” position (AMFA’s characterization). AMFA states that MTPs “are a critical step toward commencing the ISL and JCBA negotiation process” — they set the rules, schedules and timelines for seniority integration and joint contract bargaining. No start of Joint Collective Bargaining Agreement (JCBA) or Integrated Seniority List (ISL) negotiations has been announced. Alaska’s 2023-2028 AMFA agreement and Hawaiian’s IAM agreement remain in force, and the verified rates published here continue to govern.

This site publishes no rates from the TA until a ratification result and a printed effective date exist in primary sources; United’s current agreement rates continue to govern.

    negotiations

Spirit Airlines ceased operations on 2026-05-02. AMFA, certified for the Spirit technician group in 2022, stated: "After 34 years of service to the traveling public, the closure of Spirit Airlines and the loss of more than 14,000 jobs mark a deeply painful moment." The group's first collective bargaining agreement was still in National Mediation Board mediation when the airline shut down — the last session reported by AMFA was its thirteenth, held 2026-03-25/26 (negotiations update #22, 2026-04-07). No first contract was ever ratified, and no pay scale for Spirit technicians was ever published.

  • AMFA wins representation of the combined Alaska-Hawaiian mechanic group

How long does it take to reach top pay?
It differs sharply by contract: Southwest mechanics top out entering year 6, American and United at year 8, Alaska at Step 8 advancing annually on the anniversary date. United's tentative agreement — not yet ratified — would shorten its climb to 5 years. Every step and rate is in the comparison table with its citation.
What is the A&P license premium worth?
Verified per hour: American $8.50 (both licenses; $4.25 for one), Southwest $8.50 (two licenses; $4.25 one, $12.75 three with conditions), United $8.50 cap ($4.25 per FAA license, FCC $6.00), Allegiant $5.00 (both; $2.50 one), Alaska $4.00 with combined license/skill caps of $8.00-$12.00. Citations are on each figure in the table.
When is the next raise at my airline?
The Key dates section tracks every scheduled increase and amendable date from the agreements themselves — next up: Southwest's final negotiated step-up on 2026-08-16, and American's 3% on 2027-01-01. This site updates automatically on effective dates.
Is United's new contract in effect?
No. The 2026-2030 agreement is TENTATIVE — announced 2026-07-21, ratification vote pending, no result exists yet. The current extension's rates remain in effect under the Railway Labor Act. The full tentative agreement is archived and verified here, and this site publishes the comparison the day a ratification result is confirmed.
Why isn't Delta in the comparison?
Delta's mechanics are not union-represented, so no collective bargaining agreement exists to cite. Delta publishes its own 'total compensation' comparison material, but that is employer advocacy — modeled numbers, not a ratified pay scale — and this site does not treat it as one. That absence of a contract is itself information.
Where do these numbers come from, and why should I trust them?
Every figure is transcribed from the official, archived text of a ratified agreement (or is labeled otherwise), citation on the number: document, page, section, verification method and date. Two independent machine readers must agree exactly before anything publishes; disagreements never publish. Every source PDF is archived with a cryptographic hash. Errors are corrected and logged publicly, forever — see the Methodology.
I found a number that looks wrong. What do I do?
Email corrections@amtindex.com with the carrier, the figure, and the page of the agreement showing the correct value. Confirmed errors are fixed and logged permanently in the Corrections section — never quietly edited. Catching errors is exactly how this site is supposed to work.

Documents are archived at retrieval time and hashed; the archive is never overwritten. A figure cites the archived copy, not a live URL. Archived but not yet in the comparison: Delta Air Lines — each is withheld until its figures pass verification (or, for employer-published advocacy material, is never used as a pay scale; see the methodology).
